Born in 1958 in Chikura Town, Chiba Prefecture (now Minami Boso City). Graduated from the Department of Painting at Tokyo Zokei University.
He won the Choice Year Award in 1987, the Yearbook Japanese Illustration Newcomer Award in 1991, the New York ADC Award in 1993 and the New York ADC Award in London International Advertising Award, and the Honorable Mention Award in 2002 for the Asian Picture Book Original Art Biennale.
He has also written picture books, including "The Waniwani Bath" and other "The Waniwani" series, "Amu", "Amuto Aoi Reed", "The Waniwani Go" (all written by Kobayashi Sachi, Fukuinkan Shoten), "The Beginning of the Zodiacs" (Hasegawa Setsuko, Iwanami Shoten), "It's It's It's It's Uchida Rintaro, Suzuki Publishing), "Crabs" (Nimi Nankichi, Suzuki Publishing), "Yoru no Sakanaya-san" (Hodaka Junya, Bunkeido), "I, Kyoryu Shinkansen" (Katahira Naoki, Kotsu Shimbun Publishing), "Daichi" (Tanikawa Shuntaro, poetry by Iwasaki Shoten), and "I am a Shark" (Katahira Naoki, Froebelkan).
His own picture books include "Densha Gokko", "Chibiko-san" (all from Fukuinkan Shoten), and "Neko Densha" (Kotobutsu Shimbun).
