Then, somewhere, I heard a mysterious voice saying, ``Galaxy Station, Galaxy Station,'' and suddenly the light in front of Giovanni's eyes suddenly became brighter, and the next thing he knew, Giovanni was riding a small train, moving along with his best friend Campanella...
The railroad that runs through the galaxy carries people's transparent intentions and wishes, crossing the gap between life and death.
A work that represents Kenji's fairy tales. Ichiro Kanai spent 50 years trying to turn this into a painting.
His unique and fantastical painting method has the mysterious power to draw viewers into the galaxy.
A masterpiece that can truly be called the definitive edition!
[Profile]
Illustration: Ichiro Kanai
Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1946. His birthplace is ``Kanai Shinseido,'' which is famous for the creation of Japanese picture books from the Meiji to Taisho periods. The family business closed when Kanai was in elementary school. When he was in the fourth grade of elementary school, feeling lonely in an environment such as moving, he encountered Kenji Miyazawa's ``Night on the Galaxy Express'', which became a decisive encounter. The intense reading experience he had as a boy led him to develop a passion for visualizing it in his own way. He began creating shadow pictures in his late teens, and later discovered the ``shadow picture'' method of making countless holes in black paper with a needle to let light pass through from below, and continued to create ``Night on the Galactic Railway'' for nearly 50 years.
In addition to painting, he also creates lamps made from dried plants that contain small lights, as well as objects that tell stories.
●Art materials used: Kagerie (black paper with countless holes made with a needle to let light pass through from the bottom) /Paper: 2 sheets of black paper (layered with an acrylic plate in between)
