Picture ● Ichiro Kanai
Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1946. The birthplace is Kanai Shinshido, which has a name during the development of Japanese picture books from the Meiji to the Taisho era. Kanai went out of business when he was in elementary school. Kenji Miyazawa's work "Galaxy Express Night", which I met when I was a fourth grade elementary school student, was a decisive encounter. The intense reading experience of a boyhood led to the enthusiasm of wanting to make it a visualization. At the end of the teen, he began producing shadow paintings, and then found a "shadow picture" method of making countless holes on a black paper with a needle and passing light from below. He continued to create a picture of "Galaxy Railway Night".
In addition to painting production, it also produces lights with small light in dried plants and objects full of narrative.
