Born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1952. He has been obsessed with the Beatles since he was 12 years old, and was strongly influenced by Kenji Miyazawa at the age of 20.
In 1973, he won the Tezuka Prize for his work ``Mist ni Smothered Night,'' which he submitted to ``Shonen Jump.''
After that, he worked in the editorial department of the manga magazine ``Garo'', and in 1977, the author's masterpiece ``Atago Oru Monogatari'' began serialization in ``Manga Shonen'' magazine.
Won the Japan Cartoonists Association Award in 1997 for the ``Atago Oru Tamatebako'' series.
He began working on adapting Kenji Miyazawa into a manga in 1983, and received the Kenji Miyazawa Society Ihatov Award in 2001 for his work.
In 1985, Hiroshi Masumura:Illustration by Gizaburo Sugii:Director, Haruomi Hosono:The music movie ``Night on the Galaxy Express'' was released and became a hot topic.
Also in 2012, he was in charge of the character design for the movie ``The Biography of Guskovdri.''
