The two gentlemen arrive at a Western restaurant called "Yamanekoken" in the mountains.
The hungry men take the orders written on the door, looking forward to seeing what kind of food will be served.
What on earth is on the other side of the door? ? You can't help but be intrigued by the number of orders that appear every time you turn the page!
Koji Suzuki's mysterious illustrations breathe new life into this well-known masterpiece, which has been published in textbooks and other publications.
When I read it again, I was surprised to find myself drawn into the picture book.
[Profile]
Picture ● Koji Suzuki
Born in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture in 1948.
After graduating from high school, he studied at many art universities and Toyo University as a student, keeping up with the times. While working as a live-in part-time worker at a tempura restaurant in Akasaka, Tokyo, and drawing pictures, he was discovered by art director Seiichi Horiuchi, and began appearing in magazines such as Heibon Punch. In 1971, she made her debut as a picture book artist with ``Yukimusume'' (written by Keiko Kishida, Sekai Bunkasha, later republished by Billiken Publishing).
His main picture books include ``Enso-kun Kishaninoru'' (Fukuinkan Shoten), which won the Shogakukan Picture Award, as well as ``Salvirsa,'' ``Yama no Disco,'' and ``Creatures of a Thousand Worlds'' (all published by Fischer Publishing). Won the Japan Picture Book Award for ``Dome Story'' (written by Arthur Binard, Tamagawa University Press). His art books include ``Suzuki Koji's Great Magic Art Book'' (Heibonsha) and ``Ten no Suridai'' (BL Publishing).
In addition to publications, his activities, including live painting, have an overwhelming appeal, and in 2019, NHK E-Tele's art program "Sunday Art Museum" aired "Everything about me through pictures: The world of picture book author and painter Koji Suzuki" and became a hot topic.
